Outstanding Graduate Director Service Award

The Office of the Provost and The Graduate School are pleased to co-sponsor the Outstanding Graduate Director Award, to highlight the important service by graduate directors in advancing graduate education in their programs. Up to four awards will be made to graduate directors annually. Nomination deadline: January 6, 2025

Distinguished Graduate Faculty Award

This award honors an outstanding faculty member for distinguished scholarly achievement in research and teaching and contributions to graduate education. It alternates annually between the humanities/social sciences and the humanities/social sciences. This year's award will be made in the humanities/social sciences. Nomination deadline: January 6, 2025

Outstanding Graduate Mentor

These awards honor faculty members who are recognized by their departments and graduate students as superb graduate mentors. Four awards are made annually in the areas of natural sciences and engineering; the health sciences; social sciences, education and business; and the arts and humanities. Awards for departmental initiatives

Graduate Recruitment Awards

The Graduate School allocates funds annually to departments for Graduate Recruitment Awards. These funds are intended to cover program expenses for the following:

  • Prospective graduate student visits to campus (including travel and lodging)
  • Open house and receptions for prospective graduate students
  • Recruitment trips

Dollar for dollar matching support is required from the department or school/college. Expense awards, arrangements, and forms are to be processed within each department and/or school/college. The Graduate School will reimburse the college or school dean's office for eligible expenses. For details contact your dean's office.

Awards available through the Office of the Provost

Distinguished Faculty Fellowships recognize faculty whose continuing and current achievements are nationally distinguished. They are awarded under two names, depending on the funding source: Charles Gershenson Fellowships and Board of Governors Fellowships.

Board of Governors Faculty Recognition Awards are made annually to faculty members for current achievements.

Career Development Chair awards provide support to faculty in developing their research programs.

Excellence in Teaching Awards recognize faculty who have made outstanding contributions to teaching.
