Premier research

Our diverse community of over 2,000 doctoral students and dedicated faculty works together to make local and global impact through research, study, innovation and creativity in the heart of Detroit. Wayne State is among the nation's top public universities for research expenditures, with more than $218 million spent annually, has been awarded the Carnegie Foundation's top classifications in research and community engagement, and is a member of the University Research Corridor along with the University of Michigan and Michigan State University, generating 95 percent of research in the state and supporting economic growth throughout Michigan.

Our goal is to provide a clear overview of the stages in the Ph.D. process, monitor and facilitate student progress towards successful completion, and prepare students to be thought leaders in our local and global communities.
