My decision to pursue higher education at Wayne State has been significantly influenced by my passion for community engagement and advocacy.
I chose to be an ambassador to meet other students across disciplines at Wayne State.

Coming from an underrepresented background, I’ve always felt driven to achieve more in life, even when I didn’t fully understand what that meant. Wayne State’s diverse community and its commitment to social justice inspired me to further my education.
I wanted to be an ambassador to share my experiences, build a network, and learn about other cultures. This role will help me connect with diverse professionals, offer insights from my work, and deepen my understanding of different traditions and perspectives.
After speaking with several colleagues who highly recommended Wayne State, I decided to start my own journey. After I graduate next summer, I would like to work my way up to being a director in a public library.
Becoming an ambassador offers an opportunity to connect with students from diverse backgrounds and share experiences that contribute to their academic and personal growth.
My aspiration to pursue social work at WSU stemmed from my desire to help those that look like me enhance their wellbeing, lives, and future generations. I aspire to be and create safe havens for those without safe environments.
I was particularly drawn to Wayne State’s robust research infrastructure, especially in advanced proteomics and bioinformatics, which aligns perfectly with my research focus on metabolic disorders like NAFLD.
The university’s prime location in Detroit provides an incredible blend of cultural and professional opportunities, allowing me to engage with the community while building my career.
I worked in Detroit during my career as a critical care nurse, and I knew that I wanted to continue to work with and serve this community that I love.
After graduating from Wayne State University, I envision pursuing a career where I can leverage the skills and knowledge gained through both research and practical experiences.
