Open postdoctoral position, faculty mentor Shabana Ali
Summary
Seeking a highly motivated individual with statistical expertise to work under the supervision of Osvaldo Espin-Garcia, PhD (University of Toronto) and S. Amanda Ali, PhD (Henry Ford Health and Wayne State University) on a collaborative project performing deep phenotyping to elucidate novel genetic and epigenetic factors in osteoarthritis. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 1) developing latent variable modelling with multivariate endpoints; 2) planning and executing association, colocalization and mediation modelling using molecular data; and 3) preparing abstracts for presentation and manuscripts for publication. The position is for a 1-year term with opportunities to extend and support for career development. Competency in R, Bayesian statistics, and high-performance computing is required. Enthusiasm and a passion for learning are assets. Accommodations for remote work can be arranged.
Required qualifications
- Master's or PhD in (bio)statistics or a related field
- Experience in processing and analyzing large-scale datasets
- Experience/exposure to genomic or other omics data analysis, e.g., GWAS, using specialized software such as PLINK, HAIL, REGENIE
- Familiarity with genetics and epigenetics
- Familiarity with arthritis or other chronic diseases
- Demonstrable experience in research (i.e., presentations, peer-reviewed publications)
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Detail-oriented, organized, and collegial
