BUILD scholars win awards at Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students
The 2019 Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS) was held in Anaheim, CA November 13-16. ABRCMS is a yearly gathering of one of the largest communities of underrepresented minorities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Students attend to present their research, cultivate professional development skills and network. This year, more than 2,500 students from more than 350 colleges and universities participated in judged poster and oral presentations in 12 STEM disciplines. Awards are given to presentations reviewing the highest scores in each discipline. Three WSU ReBUILDetroit Scholars received Outstanding Presentation Awards for their posters: Sara Elhasan, a senior in public health and sociology; Michaila Paulateer, a junior in public health; and Sydni Alexis Elebra, a sophmore in chemistry.
