how to survive the holidays

The holidays are supposed to be full of happiness, but for some of us, they can feel really hard. Whether you’re dealing with a loss, tough decisions, or just trying to manage everything, this season can bring up a lot of emotions. Just know It’s okay if you’re not feeling cheerful right now you’re not alone.

Let yourself feel whatever you’re feeling

It’s okay to be sad, confused, or overwhelmed. You don’t have to pretend everything is fine just because it’s the holidays. Give yourself time to feel your emotions instead of ignoring them. Talking to someone you trust or writing down how you feel can help you work through it.

Do things that bring you comfort

When life feels heavy, even small things can help. Listen to your favorite music, go for a walk, watch a good movie, or just take a few minutes to breathe and relax. Taking care of yourself can make a tough day feel easier.

Lean on the people who care about you

Don’t be afraid to reach out to friends or family. Let them know how you’re feeling, even if it’s just saying, “I need someone to talk to.” You don’t have to go through this alone. Sometimes, just spending time with people who care about you can make a big difference.

Take things one step at a time

If you’re dealing with big decisions or challenges, or feeling unheard remember that you don’t have to figure everything out right now. Focus on one small step at a time. The holidays don’t have to be perfect, and neither do you.

Look for small moments of joy

Even during hard times, little things can bring light. Maybe it’s spending time with a friend, seeing holiday lights, or just enjoying a quiet moment for yourself. These small moments matter, and they can remind you that better days are ahead.

You’re stronger than you think

If you’re struggling this season, know that it’s okay to feel that way. Life isn’t always easy, but you’re not alone. Be kind to yourself, reach out to others, and take it one day at a time.

You’ve made it this far, and you’ll get through this too.
