Dawn Batts, Ph.D. student in the Department of Anthropology receives American Association of University Women (AAUW) American Dissertation Fellowship

Dawn Batts, a Ph.D. student in the Anthropology department (advisor: Dr. Yuson Jung) has just received the American Association of University Women (AAUW) American Dissertation Fellowship ($20,000). She is currently conducting ethnographic research in Wuhan, China for her dissertation project entitled "In Pursuit of the Three Highs: Urban Professional Chinese Women's Experiences and Perceptions of Gender In/Equality in Contemporary China". Dawn is the first Wayne State student to receive the dissertation fellowship from AAUW since at least 2004.
