Annual/Individual development plan

Annual Review/Individual Development Plans (AR/IDPs) are documents designed to support doctoral students and postdoctoral trainees in developing career plans and trajectories. The AR/IDP provides a structure to identify concrete steps towards long-term goals and a framework for constructive conversation between students and their mentors/advisors.

Ph.D. Students

For Ph.D. students, the AR/IDP is a companion to the Plan of Work, which focuses on academic coursework and program milestones.

Because of the importance of an AR/IDP in a trainee's career development and recent mandates from federal agencies, an annual AR/IDP is required for all doctoral students regardless of funding status.

Updated AR/IDP portal coming soon.

Postdoctoral Scholars

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at the Graduate School of Wayne State University is excited to launch a revised and streamlined Annual Review/Individual Development Plan (AR/IDP) process for all postdoctoral trainees. The AR/IDP is mandatory for every trainee who is supported by governmentally funded projects.

All postdoctoral trainees are required to submit an AR/IDP on a yearly basis.

The postdoctoral IDP submissions are due no later than April 30 every year. Click here to complete the IDP.
