You're invited! "What's Next? Career Paths for PhDs in STEM" workshop

The University of Michigan's Rackham Graduate School is sponsoring a two-day workshop entitled "What's Next? Career Paths for PhDs in STEM" on May 30-31, 2019 at the Rackham Building on the Ann Arbor campus.

The event is reserved for Wayne State and UM Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows and open to all disciplines. The program runs from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. each day, with a VIP networking reception starting at 5:30 p.m. on May 31st. Morning refreshments and lunch will be provided both days; the May 31st evening reception includes hors d'oeuvres.

This year's program will be facilitated by the leaders of SciPhD, which specializes in preparing scientists for professional careers. Participants will learn to identify specific business and social skills, how to demonstrate mastery of skills, and ways to gain missing skills before starting a job search. Modules include:

â- The Business of Science
â- Communications for Scientists
â- Networking for Success
â- Project Management for Scientists
â- Negotiating as a Scientist
â- Behavioral Based Interviews

The registration deadline is Monday, May 13, 2019. Registration is on a first come, first served basis, and only considered complete upon payment of the nonrefundable registration fee of $15 to defray the cost of materials and meals.
