Revisions to Existing Programs

Proposals for changes to existing graduate programs require approval by the New Programs Committee of the Graduate Council. This section describes the proposal requirements and approval process.

Proposal Sections

  • Identification of the program and contact person
  • Description of the current curriculum (or situation) that will be affected by the change;
  • Description of the proposed change;
  • Rationale for the change;
  • Explanation of how current students will be accommodated (if affected by the change);
  • The date the revision is proposed to go into effect;
  • Approvals page.
Approvals Required
  • Departmental faculty and chair;
  • School/college curriculum committee (or other appropriate faculty body) and dean;
  • New Programs Committee of the Graduate Council;
  • The Provost (or designee).

Following approval by the college/school dean, proposals should be submitted to the Secretary of the Graduate Council for scheduling the review by the New Programs Committee.

Revisions cannot be included in the Graduate Bulletin unless they have received these approvals.
