Graduate Exhibition

For doctoral and MFA students

Abstract Submission Deadline: January 27, 2012

An abstract of your poster is required. Please use the downloadable abstract form.

  • The abstract form must be signed by both the student and the mentor. By signing the abstract form, the student and mentor both attest to having followed all federal, state and institutional regulatory requirements in the performance of the undersigned research/scholarship.
  • The abstract must be limited to 250 words, excluding title, author and affiliations. Longer abstracts will be truncated at 250 words.
  • The text should:
    • use Times New Roman 11-12 size font for the entire Abstract;
    • be single spaced;
    • be aligned to the left margin; and,
    • avoid italics, underlining, superscript, and symbols, as these may not be compatible with on-line submission.
  • The abstract form should be uploaded as a PDF file at the abstract submission site.
  • Only the first 100 complete submissions will be accepted

An abstract book will be compiled from the submissions; please adhere to these guidelines.

Abstract/Poster Preparation Guidance

The Graduate School will hold an Abstract Writing workshop on Friday, January 13, 2012 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. A Poster Preparation workshop will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Both workshops will be held in the Community Room of the Undergraduate Library. Plan to attend to learn how to craft a quality abstract and how to prepare a high quality poster!

Poster Presentations, March 6, McGregor Center Information for all Poster Session Presenters:

  • Poster boards and easels will be available at the venue.
  • Posters cannot exceed 40” x 60”. Please provide your own push pins.
  • Poster boards at the venue will be numbered. To locate your station, please match the number assigned to your abstract to the number on the poster board.
  • Please remember that judges will be evaluating your work; prepare your poster carefully.
  • An important scoring criterion will be your ability to present your work to the judges in general, non-technical language.

Awards
Financial awards will be made for the best posters!
Judges’ decisions are final and binding.
